Television Industries, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware in 1933 as the C & C Television Corporation.
Thre company was run by
Matthew M. Fox, a motion picture and television executive who was once known as the “economic godfather of Indonesia.”
Among his many interests unconnected with the entertainment world, Mr. Fox's involvement with the Government of Indonesia when Dutch rule ended brought him the most publicity. He was denounced in official circles of the United States and the Netherlands as a would‐be monopolist of Indonesia's potentially rich trade —a charge he denied.
Mr. Fox's American‐Indonesia Corporation had a contract to handle all Indonesian Government buying and selling in the United States in 1949 and 1950. When the unusual agreement ended, other successes followed in Hollywood and in such unrelated ventures as a formula for blowing plastic bubbles with a pipe, like soap bubbles.
Mr. Fox created the first major film library for television when he purchased the television rights to R.K.O. motion pictures. In 1954 he acquired Skiatron, a pay‐as‐you‐see television company. His other positions had included the board chairmanships of the United World Picture Company and United World Films, and association in various capacities with the Skouras theater chain.
