    David City Spalding Flannel Jersey and Pants:
    Back in the 1920’s and 30’s, barnstorming was a popular theme. Teams would go around the Country and play exhibition games against industrial and semi-pro teams.
    In the east, teams like House of David would play Negro league teams. One of the more popular teams was the House of David. A spat amongst owners led to the formulation of “Mary’s City of David”. Because of their popularity, several spin-off teams were formed who had little or nothing to do with the original team(s).
    COULD THIS BE ONE OF THE SPINOFF TEAMS?
    Offered is an outstanding baseball flannel jersey and pants which were made by Spalding. Rather than the traditional Spalding oval logo, it has the rarer rectangular logo. Both the jersey and pants are in OUTSTANDING condition. Both knees of the pants have been repaired. On the jersey, “DAVID CITY” has been sewn on in wool letters. As the photo shows, there is some bleeding in the letters. The front has been cut/trimmed. NO number (s) are on the back. The flannel material is thick with plenty of life left in it.
    As stated above,
    I cannot say for sure if this jersey was in any way associated
    with the House of David or Mary’s House of David
    . What I can say is, it is a very nice representation of a 1920’s-30’s flannel baseball jersey.
